Nursing 123 (Nursing 2): Find Scholarly Articles

Find scholarly journal articles in the online databases

Find scholarly articles on your topics in the library databases.

Go to https://www.ccm.edu/student-support/library/   Click on Library Start Page.   

You may also just go directly to the Library Start Page at ccm.libguides.com/Library

Once on the Library Start Page, click on Database List.

Scroll down and click on CINAHL

Enter your Username and Password if prompted (see Search from Home tab) 

Note: Make sure to click off the Natural Language Search button beneath the search box.

Then, click on Advanced Search, above the search box.

This will bring up 3 keyword boxes, all linked by the word AND

Limit to Full text, enter your topic and search.

Box 1:  Temperature AND accuracy

Box 2:  Scan OR Tympanic OR Skin

Box 3:  Oral

From the results page, at the top, you may choose limiters, such as: 

All time = Past 10 years 

Put a check in the box for "Peer-reviewed Journals"

Click on the Title of an article of interest

Note the Following Fields:

Authors & Affiliations

The Source (The name of the Journal that published this article) 

The Abstract (Or summary of the article)

The Digital Object Identifier (or, DOI number, needed for the citation)

Beneath the citation, look for the PDF of the full text article and click on it.

At the top of the page, on the right side, locate the icons to share/email, download or print.

If you don't see a PDF file, click on Access full-text. 

Look for an Article link.  If you see the message, "We were unable to find...", look for the button to

Request Item through Interlibrary loan. 

Fill out the contact information on the e-form and submit. 

Articles may take up to two weeks to arrive. If they are not available within that time, the library will contact you.
