Library Services for Student Clubs

The CCM Library has space for studying and spaces for clubs to meet formally or informally:

  • LRC 205: The Group Study Room - The largest of our study rooms, LRC 202 can accommodate groups up to 10 individuals and is available on a first come first serve basis. The room is equipped with a large table, 10 chairs, a projector and display screen. Hardware to connect your device to the projector is available to borrow at the Circulation Desk.
  • The LRC Cafe - The LRC Cafe is currently unavailable for meetings. We hope it can be open in Fall 2024.
  • The Space Between - There is a space between the LRC Cafe and the computers that is large-ish and a great space if a group wants to meet. There is a table with four chairs, but more chairs could be procured from surrounding areas. The Library is not a silent space, so this space could serve groups during our open hours.
  • LRC 121 - This wonderfully large space is on the 1st floor of the LRC. While not technically "the Library", LRC 121 is in the same building as the library and is ample space for your club meetings and activities. To reserve LRC 121, contact the Office of Campus Life by phone (973-328-5225) or by email.

Student clubs offer students a place of belonging. And often, that feeling of belonging is predicated upon the ways a club offers students the opportunities to connect to one another and the outside community. Check out these links to activity idea lists for student clubs.

Local organizations are often in need of help and volunteers. Consider contacting any of these local organizations to see how your group can assist.

For club meetings, flyers, communication, or general knowledge, students often want to know where to get up-to-date and accurate information. The CCM Library databases can be a great start to your research journey. Check out these databases for some of the following popular topics:

You can also schedule an information search session with a librarian or invite a librarian to talk to your group about a specific research interest. For more information, email Lia Carruthers, Reference Librarian.

Once you have an event planned, you now need to promote it? How can you get people to your event? Try these:

  • Create a sign and then take it to Campus Life (SCC 226) to get it approved. Once approved, you can hang your sign on bulletin boards and walls all over campus!
  • Bring copies of your sign to the CCM Library. Ask for permission to see Dean Craven - she makes the decisions on signs that are hung in the library.
  • Create a message for the outdoor message boards on the way into campus. Click here for more info.
  • Advertise on Titan TV!! Find a template here and send your ad to Marketing and Public Relations.
  • Tag other departments on your social posts!!
