Introduction to Business: Assignments

Find information about your company. (Note: personnel information may be out of date).

Search Business Insights: Global (by GALE).  

Go to https://www.ccm.edu/student-support/library/   Click on Library Start Page.   

You may also just go directly to the Library Start Page at ccm.libguides.com/Library

Once on the Library Start Page, click on Assignments. 

Click on Database List.

• Click Business Insights Global and enter CCM username and password if prompted
• Type in the name of the company or ticker symbol
• Click on the record for the parent company (the parent co. will display its Ticker symbol after the name) and access the Company Profile .
• Profiles will contain a company overview, history, officers, products, competitors, financials, news and an industry analysis.​​​​​​​

Find current information about your company.

Search Nexis Uni (by Lexis Nexis).

Go to https://www.ccm.edu/student-support/library/   Click on Library Start Page.

Once on the Library Start Page, click on Assignments. 

Click on Database List.

Click Nexis Uni and enter CCM username and password if prompted

• Click Find a Company
• Type in the full name of the company (no abbreviations)  in the company line, or choose ticker symbol in the dropdown menu and enter the symbol in the search box
• Click Search
• Click on the Nexis Dossier for the Company 
• Navigate using the table of contents on the left side.
• Review company information, financial overview, news, industry overview etc

Find newspaper articles.

Search Wall Street Journal.

Go to https://www.ccm.edu/student-support/library/   Click on Library Start Page.

Once on the Library Start Page, click on Assignments. 

Click on Database List.

Scroll down to the end of the list and click on Wall Street Journal

• Click on Advanced Search. Enter a company name. 
• Limit the date range to the previous year.  Search.
• Click on the full text link to retrieve the whole article.
