Affordable Textbooks and Courseware: Finding OER

Don't go it alone!

As you investigate open educational resources, you don't have to go it alone. CCM Librarians can help locate OER in your subject area and the CCM Bookstore can provide tips and suggestions.

Step 1 Openstax

Step 1 Openstax

Start with this small collection to find out how OER works and what it can offer. These texts are peer-reviewed and created by selected subject experts backed by grant and university funding, so the quality is high. Openstax texts are available in electronic and print formats, and most offer multiple options for low-cost supplemental materials.

Step 2 Open Textbook Library

Step 2 Open Textbook Library

To find materials for a specific course, search the larger and broader Open Textbook Library. This collection's strength is in its reviews: when considering an OTL resource, you can read the opinions and experiences of your colleagues at other institutions who have used the resource in their teaching.

Try these guides to find specific resources in a subject area. You'll find videos, interactive materials, learning objects, and other resources as well as texts. OER allows you the flexibility to mix and match resources to meet your students' needs.
